Gubat


   Gubat is a municipality in the province of Sorsogon in Region V  which be­longs to the Luzon group of islands. The municipality of Gubat is seated about 17 km south-east of province capital City Of Sorsogon and about 621 km east-south-east of Manila.


     Gubat is a 2nd class municipality, classified as partly urban which occupies an area of 134.51 km² and  has a population of 57,327 with a density of 426 people living on one km².


  The Municipality of Gubat is subdivided into 42 barangays, Eight (8) Barangays is in the center of the city whereas the other 34 are in the outlying areas and the most populous are Lapinig, Nazareno, Dita, Villareal, Patag, Benguet, Sangat, Cabiguhan, Manapao, Tagaytay, Naagtan, Tigkiw,  Buenavista,  Cabigaan and Nato.


     The main livelihoods of the people are agriculture, fishing and commercial centers. Harvest times for rice crops are during April, May and December, fishing is year-round.
